INSIGHT MEDITATION FOR ENGLISH SPEAKING YOGIS IN MYANMAR
MAHASI SASANA YEIKTHA (MSY) MEDITATION CENTRE, YANGON

The Buddha Sasana Nuggaha Organization-Myanmar (BSNO) in joint participation with the Buddha Sasana Foundation-USA/Canada (BSF), present a Special Ten Day Retreat.

February 2-11, 2022 (open to all) (25 spaces).

The retreat is designed for both beginning and experienced meditators. It will be led by the Senior Meditation Teacher at the Mahasi Centre and supported by his Teaching Assistants through the use of an expert English translator. The retreat is grounded in the Theravada Buddhist tradition using the Satipatthana Vipassana mindfulness method of insight (vipassana) meditation as instructed by the late Venerable Mahasi Sayadaw. The teachings emphasize developing sustained mindfulness throughout the day. (i.e., awareness of mental and physical phenomena as they arise moment to moment, in all activities, when sitting, walking, standing, bending, bathing, eating, lying down to rest, waking up etc.)

The retreat is also a special opportunity for mindfulness meditation guides and teachers worldwide to deepen their practice and to gain a more systematic knowledge of insight meditation as taught in the Mahasi system. Dhamma talks are given by the Senior Teacher every day along
with short interview sessions for retreatants that offer personal guidance in one’s meditation practice. As such, one is afforded the opportunity to directly experience the pedagogical foundations and skillful means required to guide practice and decipher one’s report of vipassana experience in order to facilitate one’s deepening practice.
